Agriculture is one occupation that is always undertaken, it suffice most basic needs of population. There has been many technological advancements because of increasing demand of food. Farming till las century completely depend on labour, climate, and geology of the land. Various methods were used in till the last century, but that has been change with the introduction of suitable farming methods that help agriculture to produce high yield with minimum investment, some of these methods are as under.
Farming methods in India
- Organic Farming: It is type of agriculture farming that completely reply on green manure, crop rotation, biological pest control, compost, and mechanical cultivation to control pest, and maintain soil productivity. This method is extremely effective and it limits the use of fertilizers.
- Multi-Crop Farming: Multi crop farming is a method in which farmers cultivate multiple crops at a time. There are many advantage of this method in farming, it help farmers to earn more money by farming more than one type of crops. There is different span of growth of each crop so the harvest time is different.
- Green house Farming: It is still a new concept but it is one of the most effective method that returns high yield. It is used by many farmers to produce vegetables, and some industries use it to provide seeds to farmers.
- Poly House Farming: It is a method where cultivation is done under strict conditions. It provides ideal temperature for the crops so that end result is of high quality. Poly House is capable of protecting the crops from natural phenomena such as sunlight, wind, heat, and more.
These methods come under organic agriculture because they use minimal chemicals to produce crops. These farming methods have positive effect on crop’s nutrition as compare to other harmful methods. The focus is on producing high quality yield under low budget, and some of these methods are capable of doing so. These methods belong to modernized agriculture, which is combination of nature, science, and technology.
These farming methods are quite effective, but there are certain factors that need more research to decrease the cost. Soil and water is among the areas which need attention of researchers. If crops can grow under suitable condition throughout the country, then overall yield production will be high. It can only be possible by polishing the current farming methods and at the same time developing new ones.
